Description: Neuroconnections, in pastel turquoise and pinks, shows neurons intermingled with microglia and astrocytes. Neurons communicate both excitatory and inhibitory signals to other neurons through chemicals released from their axons. The pink cells are meant to highlight excitatory signals while the turquoise cells represent inhibitory signals. In the background I show glial cells, microglia and astrocytes which communicate with and modulate neuron activity.
